Big Kid Pictures in association with Team Downey are gearing up to begin filming on the Warner Bros. Pictures feature film “The Judge” starring Robert Downey Jr. along with an amazing all-star cast. Shooting will take place in Boston, MA and surrounding locations beginning on June 3, 2013. The local casting directors are holding two open casting calls in Massachusetts for people to work on the film as extras, and also for people who have cars and trucks to use in the movie. The open casting calls are being held in the City of Boston, and in the historic Village of Shelburne Falls.

Roth Films/Real Heaven, Inc. in association with Wheelhouse Entertainment are in pre-production on the Sony Pictures true-story feature film “Heaven is for Real” based on the New York Times best-selling book written by Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent. The book has over 7 million copies in print, and has sold over 1 million eBooks. Casting directors across the United States and Canada are conducting a massive talent search for a 6-8 year old boy to play the role of Colton Burpo. They are considering new talent with no experience or training required. Filming will take place this summer in Canada, so as not to interfere with schooling.

Atlas Entertainment and Annapurna Pictures are set to begin shooting a major feature film in Boston, MA and New York City for Columbia Pictures. Casting directors in Los Angeles and New York are casting the film’s supporting roles. Smaller speaking roles are being cast in Boston and New York, where shooting will take place from March 18, 2013 through May 19, 2013. The project is currently using the working title of “Untitled David O. Russell/Abscam Project”. Extras will be cast throughout production. Alcon Entertainment and Syncopy in association with Evolutionary Pictures and Straight Up Films are in pre-production on the epic Warner Bros. Pictures sci-fi thriller feature film “Transcendence”. Shooting will take place in Los Angeles and Boston beginning in April, 2013. Two-time Primetime Emmy Award winner and four-time Casting Society of America Artios Award winner John Papsidera is casting the film’s starring and co-starring roles in Los Angeles. Additional principal actor casting will be taking place in Boston. The background performers and stand-ins will be cast locally in Boston. Experienced film crew members and production staff are also being hired locally in Massachusetts.

Gerber Pictures in association with Storyopolisis is in pre-production on the true-story survival drama feature film “Crazy for the Storm” for Warner Bros. Pictures. The movie centers on eleven-year-old Norman Ollestad, who survived a plane crash which left him stranded on an icy mountaintop by using the skills his father instilled in him. The film’s Primetime Emmy Award nominated casting director is conducting a national talent search for a 9-11 year old boy to play the lead role. The movie is based on Ollestad’s novel “Crazy for the Storm: A Memoir of Survival“. Shooting will take place in Los Angeles starting April, 2013.

Sony Pictures Television in association with Gran Via Productions and Nemo Films are in pre-production on a new one-hour drama series pilot titled “Wild Blue”. The show’s casting directors in Los Angeles and New York are holding auditions for series regulars, with additional auditions to take place as soon as the regulars are cast. The stand-ins and background extras will be cast throughout shooting on the series pilot episode, which begins mid-March, 2013 in Los Angeles. There will be a very large number of people hired to play Navy personnel on the show.

They are also seeking people with 60s – 70s vehicles to use as props in the film. The project is currently being called “Untitled David O. Russell Project”. The production company Pariah in association with Prodco are ready to begin shooting a new pilot for ABC Family titled “Socio”. The casting directors in Los Angeles and New York are auditioning actors for starring, guest-starring, recurring roles, and day players. Extras will be hired throughout production beginning late October, 2012. The production office for the show is located at the EUE/Screen Gems Studios in New York City. “Socio” is one of five new pilots that are in production for the network. The others are “The Fosters,” “Terminales,” “Phys Ed,” and “Continuing Fred.”

The casting director in Boston is seeking children and teen extras, as well as adults. They are also casting teens and adults who are great water skiers. These are fully paid positions, and no prior experience working as a background performer is necessary. Filming is taking place in the North Shore region of Massachusetts.
