21 Laps Entertainment and The Jim Henson Company are now in the pre-production stage on the upcoming live-action Disney feature film “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” which is based on the children’s book by Judith Viorst. Disney casting executives are conducting a widespread talent search for a boy age 10-12 to play the lead role of Alexander Conners. Both SAG-AFTRA talent and non-union talent can submit via uploading an audition video to the official Disney casting authorized website for this film. Shooting will take place from August through October, 2013 in Los Angeles.

Roth Films/Real Heaven, Inc. in association with Wheelhouse Entertainment are in pre-production on the Sony Pictures true-story feature film “Heaven is for Real” based on the New York Times best-selling book written by Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent. The book has over 7 million copies in print, and has sold over 1 million eBooks. Casting directors across the United States and Canada are conducting a massive talent search for a 6-8 year old boy to play the role of Colton Burpo. They are considering new talent with no experience or training required. Filming will take place this summer in Canada, so as not to interfere with schooling.

Gerber Pictures in association with Storyopolisis is in pre-production on the true-story survival drama feature film “Crazy for the Storm” for Warner Bros. Pictures. The movie centers on eleven-year-old Norman Ollestad, who survived a plane crash which left him stranded on an icy mountaintop by using the skills his father instilled in him. The film’s Primetime Emmy Award nominated casting director is conducting a national talent search for a 9-11 year old boy to play the lead role. The movie is based on Ollestad’s novel “Crazy for the Storm: A Memoir of Survival“. Shooting will take place in Los Angeles starting April, 2013.

Sony Pictures Television in association with Gran Via Productions and Nemo Films are in pre-production on a new one-hour drama series pilot titled “Wild Blue”. The show’s casting directors in Los Angeles and New York are holding auditions for series regulars, with additional auditions to take place as soon as the regulars are cast. The stand-ins and background extras will be cast throughout shooting on the series pilot episode, which begins mid-March, 2013 in Los Angeles. There will be a very large number of people hired to play Navy personnel on the show.

Warner Bros. Pictures in association with Circle of Confusion Productions and Rozar Pictures will begin shooting the sci-fi action 3D feature film “Jupiter Ascending” on February 26, 2013. Auditions are taking place in Los Angeles for the film’s lead roles, with addition casting to take place in Chicago and London, UK where shooting will take place. The background extras, stand-ins, and photo-doubles will be hired in Chicago and London throughout the duration of the shoot. Registration for locals can be done online. “Jupiter Ascending” is to be the first film in a trilogy.

The casting director is conducting and online open casting call searching for starring and co-starring roles in the film. Shooting will take place in the Detroit, Michigan area beginning in May, 2013. They are currently looking for a boy who looks between 3-6 years of age and a male who is over 18 and appears to be between 17-19 years of age. From the Academy Award winning producers of three Harry Potter films comes the upcoming epic feature film “Christ The Lord,” based on the best-selling novel “Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt” by Anne Rice. The casting directors are accepting online self-taped video auditions from boys ages 7-10 to play the starring role of Jesus as a child. Filming begins on March 6, 2013 and will continue through the end of May, 2013. There will also be 2-4 weeks paid rehearsal prior to filming. The shoot will take place in Rome and Matera, Italy. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for the person chosen.

The new drama series “Chicago Fire” has been picked up for season one by NBC, which made the announcement in May, 2012. The show follows the lives of the firefighters and paramedics working at the Chicago Fire Department – firehouse of Engine 55, Truck 81, Squad 3, Medic 61, and Battalion 25. The show’s starring, co-starring, and guest starring roles are being cast out of New York, with additional principal actor casting in Chicago where shooting will take place. All of the stand-ins and extras will be hired in the Chicago area. The show begins production in July, 2012.
