Roth Films/Real Heaven, Inc. in association with Wheelhouse Entertainment are in pre-production on the Sony Pictures true-story feature film “Heaven is for Real” based on the New York Times best-selling book written by Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent. The book has over 7 million copies in print, and has sold over 1 million eBooks. Casting directors across the United States and Canada are conducting a massive talent search for a 6-8 year old boy to play the role of Colton Burpo. They are considering new talent with no experience or training required. Filming will take place this summer in Canada, so as not to interfere with schooling.

Marvel Studios, an owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, is set to begin shooting the political-thriller superhero feature film sequel “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” in May, 2013. The locations where filming will take place are Los Angeles, North Carolina, Cleveland, and Washington DC. Disney casting directors for Marvel are auditioning actors in Los Angeles with additional casting to take place in Cleveland, North Carolina, and DC. Extras also will cast in all cities where filming is taking place. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures has announced that they will release the film in theaters on April 4, 2014 in both in 2D and 3D. The working title for “Captain America: The First Avenger” was Frostbite, and the working title for “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is Freezerburn.

From the Academy Award winning producers of three Harry Potter films comes the upcoming epic feature film “Christ The Lord,” based on the best-selling novel “Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt” by Anne Rice. The casting directors are accepting online self-taped video auditions from boys ages 7-10 to play the starring role of Jesus as a child. Filming begins on March 6, 2013 and will continue through the end of May, 2013. There will also be 2-4 weeks paid rehearsal prior to filming. The shoot will take place in Rome and Matera, Italy. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for the person chosen.

The locations where filming will take place are Los Angeles and Cleveland, Ohio. Some additional filming will take place in Washington D.C. according to Leslie Green, Senior Communications manager with the DC Film Office. Principal actor casting will take place in Los Angeles and Cleveland, with extras also being cast in both cities. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures has announced that they will release the film in theaters on April 4, 2014. Anyone who has ever worked as a background performer (generally referred to as “extras“) on a film set or television show in Los Angeles has probably heard other extras talking about the stigma attached to people who do extra work on any kind of regular basis. The logic behind this stigma is based on the idea of directors associating extras as simply non-actors who fill the background of a given scene. There is a very common belief in Hollywood that if someone is recognized by a director as a person that was seen working as an extra, the director will only view that person as an extra, and will not take them seriously and hire them as a principal actor. But doing extra work can be of great benefit to aspiring actors.

Disney auditions will begin soon on the modern film adaptation of the classic science fiction novel “20,000 Leagues Under The Sea” by French writer Jules Verne. Shooting is scheduled to begin in February, 2012. All of the film’s roles are up for grabs, including starring, co-starring, and supporting roles. This adaptation is not to be confused with producer Ridley Scott’s project in development at 20th Century Fox.

The Zoo Productions Disney Channel hit hidden camera reality series “PrankStars” is in production and the show’s casting department is seeking boys and girls between the ages of 8-16, who are huge fans of a Disney Channel star. If selected to appear on the show, the unsuspecting tweens and teens come face to face with their favorite celebrities in unpredictable and humorous situations. Extras are also being cast to be a part of the pranks.
