21 Laps Entertainment and The Jim Henson Company are now in the pre-production stage on the upcoming live-action Disney feature film “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” which is based on the children’s book by Judith Viorst. Disney casting executives are conducting a widespread talent search for a boy age 10-12 to play the lead role of Alexander Conners. Both SAG-AFTRA talent and non-union talent can submit via uploading an audition video to the official Disney casting authorized website for this film. Shooting will take place from August through October, 2013 in Los Angeles.

Roth Films/Real Heaven, Inc. in association with Wheelhouse Entertainment are in pre-production on the Sony Pictures true-story feature film “Heaven is for Real” based on the New York Times best-selling book written by Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent. The book has over 7 million copies in print, and has sold over 1 million eBooks. Casting directors across the United States and Canada are conducting a massive talent search for a 6-8 year old boy to play the role of Colton Burpo. They are considering new talent with no experience or training required. Filming will take place this summer in Canada, so as not to interfere with schooling.

Gerber Pictures in association with Storyopolisis is in pre-production on the true-story survival drama feature film “Crazy for the Storm” for Warner Bros. Pictures. The movie centers on eleven-year-old Norman Ollestad, who survived a plane crash which left him stranded on an icy mountaintop by using the skills his father instilled in him. The film’s Primetime Emmy Award nominated casting director is conducting a national talent search for a 9-11 year old boy to play the lead role. The movie is based on Ollestad’s novel “Crazy for the Storm: A Memoir of Survival“. Shooting will take place in Los Angeles starting April, 2013.

From the Academy Award winning producers of three Harry Potter films comes the upcoming epic feature film “Christ The Lord,” based on the best-selling novel “Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt” by Anne Rice. The casting directors are accepting online self-taped video auditions from boys ages 7-10 to play the starring role of Jesus as a child. Filming begins on March 6, 2013 and will continue through the end of May, 2013. There will also be 2-4 weeks paid rehearsal prior to filming. The shoot will take place in Rome and Matera, Italy. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for the person chosen.

They are seeking kids 6-10 tears of age, and adults 18-80, both males and females. No acting experience is necessary, but some dance, theatre or acting experience may be helpful. The hit FX Network Golden Globe Nominated horror-drama series American Horror Story has been renewed for a second season and the award winning casting team is now holding auditions in Los Angeles for new series regulars. The show’s format is anthology based, whereas the story, characters, and location for each season is different. The show’s guest stars and extras will be cast throughout the season, which begins shooting July, 2012. The second season of “American Horror Story” will take place in an East Coast asylum for the criminally insane, although filming will take place in Los Angeles.

Walt Disney Pictures and Roth Films are in pre-production on the live-action feature film “Maleficent”, which explores the origins of the evil fairy godmother and what led her to curse Princess Aurora in Disney’s animated classic “Sleeping Beauty“. The casting directors in Los Angeles and London are holding auditions for starring, co-starring, and supporting roles. Shooting will take place in Los Angeles and London beginning June 11, 2012 and will continue through November 4, 2012. “Maleficent” is set to hit theaters on March 14, 2014.

Disney Channel and Disney XD are searching for talent ages 9-18 years for possible upcoming projects. The casting directors are looking for male and female talent of any ethnicity and dialect. In addition to acting talent, they will be looking for those with strong singing, dancing, and athletic abilities of any type. They will consider all talent, both experienced and inexperienced with these particular skill sets. Also welcome are newcomers that have done Community Theatre, Acting workshops, etc. Videotaped auditions are also being accepted from talent who can not travel to the auditions.

It’s a Laugh Productions is currently in pre-production on a new series for Disney XD called “Crash & Bernstein”. The network has picked up the series from a pilot episode, and the lead role of a 13 year old boy is being re-cast. The casting director will also be casting guest stars, and day players. The extras, photo-doubles, and stand-ins will be hired throughout production this Summer, 2012. Many kids and teens will be cast. The multi-camera series will launch on Disney XD in Fall, 2012. “Crash & Bernstein” is a live-action comedy with puppetry.
