Gerber Pictures in association with Storyopolisis is in pre-production on the true-story survival drama feature film “Crazy for the Storm” for Warner Bros. Pictures. The movie centers on eleven-year-old Norman Ollestad, who survived a plane crash which left him stranded on an icy mountaintop by using the skills his father instilled in him. The film’s Primetime Emmy Award nominated casting director is conducting a national talent search for a 9-11 year old boy to play the lead role. The movie is based on Ollestad’s novel “Crazy for the Storm: A Memoir of Survival“. Shooting will take place in Los Angeles starting April, 2013.

Walt Disney Pictures and Wheatfield Productions are in pre-production on an exciting new live action sci-fi feature film called “1952″. The Disney casting directors are casting starring roles including a boy and girl who can play 10-11 years of age, and a naturally beautiful teen girl who can play 16-17 years of age. Shooting on the project will take place in Vancouver, BC starting this spring, 2013. Auditions are taking place in Los Angeles, New York, and Vancouver. All photo-doubles and stand-ins for the film’s stars will be hired in Vancouver, as well as all of the extras. Academy Award winner George Clooney has been cast in a lead role.

The independent feature film “Something Whispered” is filming around the New Haven, Connecticut area and Northeastern Connecticut from late September to mid-November, 2012. There are two open casting calls scheduled for locals to work as fully paid background performers on the shoot. The casting director in Connecticut is seeking Caucasians, African Americans or Africans at least 18 years of age and able to portray ages 18 to 60. Four-time Academy Award nominee Gary Ross announced that he will not be returning to direct Catching Fire, and there is a good chance that a different casting director will also be hired. It is most often the director who chooses the casting director, and three-time Casting Society of America Artios Award winner Debra Zane has cast every film that Gary Ross has directed or produced since 1998 including “Pleasantville”, “Seabiscuit”, and “The Tale of Despereaux“. Zane would likely cast Ross’ next project instead of “Catching Fire”.
