“Drop Dead Diva” season 5 begins shooting late April, 2013 in Atlanta, GA.

The hit Lifetime Television series “Drop Dead Diva” has been officially brought back to life for a fifth season after being cancelled on January 15, 2013. There was a tremendous outcry from the show’s fans, and showrunner Josh Berman credits the fans for the return of the comedy-drama television series. Lifetime signed a deal on March 1, 2013 with Sony Pictures Television that made the show economically viable not only for Season 5 but for seasons beyond. Now the casting director has scheduled open casting calls for talent in the metro Atlanta area to appear on the show as general background performers. Principal actor casting is also underway and is being done in Atlanta.

New Line Cinema and S&K Pictures in association with Big Kid Pictures are in pre-production on a new sequel in the “National Lampoon’s Vacation” franchise. This new film will begin shooting June 17, 2013 in New Mexico and Atlanta, GA. The Primetime Emmy award winning casting director is conducting a national talent search for young talent for several lead roles in the film. Being cast are two boys between 9-15 years of age to play the Griswold boys, Ed Helms‘ kids. Also being cast is a pretty teen girl between the ages of 13-17. Self-taped video auditions will be accepted for talent outside of Los Angeles. The extras will be cast throughout filming in Atlanta and New Mexico.

Sony Pictures Television and Pariah Entertainment Group are set to begin production on the new television series pilot “Zombieland” in Atlanta, Georgia. The extras casting director is holding an open casting call for local people 18 years of age and older to work as general and possible featured background performers on the film. Shooting begins on February 25, 2013. The series is a continuation of the 2009 American zombie comedy film of the same name starring Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin. “Zombieland” is also accepting resumes from experienced production staff and television crew members.

Apatow Productions and Gary Sanchez Productions are in pre-production on the feature film sequel “Anchorman: The Legend Continues” for Paramount Pictures. The casting director is holding auditions in Los Angeles for principal acting roles, and additional casting for smaller speaking roles will be cast in Atlanta, GA. Filming will take place there from March 4, 2013 through May 17, 2013. The local extras casting team is also hiring stand-ins for the films stars, as well as taking email submissions for general and featured background extras.

Untouchable J Productions CEO and Producer JoJo Ryder, who is extremely well connected in the entertainment industry, is collaborating with his good friend and five-time Grammy Awards nominated hip hop recording artist Akon, for a feature film and several reality series. Ryder has also partnered with R&B singer Keith Sweat for a documentary film called “Make It Last Forever” based on the book of the same name that Keith Sweat has coming out February 14th, 2013.

Mandate Pictures and Four Fellas Productions in association with Laurence Mark Productions and Good Universe are in production on the comedy feature film “Last Vegas”, shooting in Atlanta, GA. The local casting directors are seeking a large number of extras to work on the film in December. In addition to the extras being cast, there are also roles for featured players at a higher pay rate. Principal actor casting took place in Los Angeles, with additional speaking roles being cast in Atlanta. Filming will continue through December 22, 2012. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 20, 2013.

From the creator of the hit ABC series “Desperate Housewives” comes an amazing new comedy-drama series for Lifetime Television called “Devious Maids”. Casting is taking place in Los Angeles and New York, as well as in Atlanta, GA where the 1-hour show will be shot. The pilot episode was filmed in Los Angeles. Auditions will be ongoing throughout season one for guest starring, recurring, and day player roles. Storyline Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television are in pre-production on the made-for-television movie “Anna Nicole Smith Story” for Lifetime. The award winning casting director is auditioning actresses to play the title role of Anna Nicole. The film’s remaining roles will be cast after the lead role is filled. The biopic will shoot in Atlanta, GA this Fall, 2012. The extras and stand-ins will be hired in Atlanta beginning in October.
