Paramount Pictures subsidiary Nickelodeon Movies in association with Platinum Dunes and Mednick Productions are getting ready to begin production on the live-action feature film “Ninja Turtles,” based on the legendary comic book series by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. Casting directors are holding auditions for starring, co-starring, and supporting roles. The extras casting director will be hiring featured and general background performers throughout filming, which is taking place from April 13 through July 31, 2013. Shooting will be at the largest and most sophisticated studio complex outside of Hollywood, Steiner Studios in Brooklyn. Additional principal photography will take place at various locations in New York City and surrounding areas.

Marvel Studios, an owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, is set to begin shooting the political-thriller superhero feature film sequel “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” in May, 2013. The locations where filming will take place are Los Angeles, North Carolina, Cleveland, and Washington DC. Disney casting directors for Marvel are auditioning actors in Los Angeles with additional casting to take place in Cleveland, North Carolina, and DC. Extras also will cast in all cities where filming is taking place. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures has announced that they will release the film in theaters on April 4, 2014 in both in 2D and 3D. The working title for “Captain America: The First Avenger” was Frostbite, and the working title for “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is Freezerburn.

It’s a Laugh Productions and Oops Doughnuts Productions are now in pre-production on a brand new multi-camera comedy series titled “Liv & Maddie”. The Casting Society of America Artios Award nominated Disney casting directors for the show are hiring actors for recurring, guest starring, and day player roles. The extras will be cast throughout production which begins on April 8, 2013 in Los Angeles. There will be a large number of young actors hired to play high school students, as well as adults to play teachers and parents. The show is set for a Fall, 2013 premiere on Disney Channel.

Troika Pictures and Hyde Park Entertainment in association with Myriad Pictures and Merced Media Partners are in pre-production on the thriller feature film “Careful What You Wish For”, which will begin shooting April 22, 2013. Filming will take place in Charlotte, NC and the towns of Cornelius, Huntersville, Davidson, Mooresville and Belmont. Lake Norman will be the centerpiece of the the film’s locations. Casting directors are holding auditions for the films co-starring, and supporting roles. There will be additional speaking roles cast in North Carolina, as well as the film’s stand-ins, photo-doubles, and extras. There will be a number of speaking and non-speaking roles for female teens, and some male teens who can portray high school students. Out-of-town cast, crew and production staff will be living at the Birkdale Village in Huntersville during filming. Extras can register for free online, and film crew members and production staff are encouraged to submit resumes by email.

New Line Cinema and S&K Pictures in association with Big Kid Pictures are in pre-production on a new sequel in the “National Lampoon’s Vacation” franchise. This new film will begin shooting June 17, 2013 in New Mexico and Atlanta, GA. The Primetime Emmy award winning casting director is conducting a national talent search for young talent for several lead roles in the film. Being cast are two boys between 9-15 years of age to play the Griswold boys, Ed Helms‘ kids. Also being cast is a pretty teen girl between the ages of 13-17. Self-taped video auditions will be accepted for talent outside of Los Angeles. The extras will be cast throughout filming in Atlanta and New Mexico.

Disney has officially already approved plans for a sequel film to “Oz the Great and Powerful“. James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, and Michelle Williams are all signed on for multiple sequels. Mitchell Kapner was contracted several months ago to write the screenplay for the next film in the Oz franchise. Aside from writing the screenplay for “Oz the Great and Powerful,” Kapner wrote screenplays for the Warner Bros. Pictures feature films “The Whole Nine Yards” and “The Whole Ten Yards” both starring Bruce Willis and Matthew Perry, “Romeo Must Die” starring Jet Li, and the MGM Home Entertainment direct-to-video “Into the Blue 2: The Reef“.

Roth Films in association with Mayhem Pictures is getting ready to start production on the Walt Disney Pictures true-story live-action feature film “Million Dollar Arm,” about a sports agent who discovered baseball pitchers amongst cricket players in India by staging a reality show to discover new talent. The Primetime Emmy award winning Disney casting veteran has issued a nationwide casting call for lead roles in the film. Also being cast are supporting, and smaller speaking roles. Filming gets underway May 6, 2013 and will take place in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and in India.

Walt Disney Pictures and Wheatfield Productions are in pre-production on an exciting new live action sci-fi feature film called “Tomorrowland”. The Disney casting directors are casting starring roles including a boy and girl who can play 10-11 years of age, and a naturally beautiful teen girl who can play 16-17 years of age. Shooting on the project will take place in Vancouver, British Columbia starting this Summer, 2013. Auditions are taking place in Los Angeles, New York, and Vancouver. The hit Lifetime Television series “Drop Dead Diva” has been officially brought back to life for a fifth season after being cancelled on January 15, 2013. There was a tremendous outcry from the show’s fans, and showrunner Josh Berman credits the fans for the return of the comedy-drama television series. Lifetime signed a deal on March 1, 2013 with Sony Pictures Television that made the show economically viable not only for Season 5 but for seasons beyond. Now the casting director has scheduled open casting calls for talent in the metro Atlanta area to appear on the show as general background performers. Principal actor casting is also getting underway.
