Marvel Studios, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company is in pre-production on the live-action 3D sci-fi adventure film “Guardians of the Galaxy”. Casting is underway for the main characters in the film in addition to co-starring and supporting roles, as well as voice-over actors for ADR (Additional Dialogue Recording) sessions. Casting calls have now been issued for talent in the UK to work as supporting artists, core extras, and stand-ins for the film’s starring actors. Shooting will commence in June, 2013 at Shepperton Studios and various locations around the UK.

Roth Films/Real Heaven, Inc. in association with Wheelhouse Entertainment are in pre-production on the Sony Pictures true-story feature film “Heaven is for Real” based on the New York Times best-selling book written by Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent. The book has over 7 million copies in print, and has sold over 1 million eBooks. Casting directors across the United States and Canada are conducting a massive talent search for a 6-8 year old boy to play the role of Colton Burpo. They are considering new talent with no experience or training required. Filming will take place this summer in Canada, so as not to interfere with schooling.

The hit Lifetime Television series “Drop Dead Diva” has been officially brought back to life for a fifth season after being cancelled on January 15, 2013. There was a tremendous outcry from the show’s fans, and showrunner Josh Berman credits the fans for the return of the comedy-drama television series. Lifetime signed a deal on March 1, 2013 with Sony Pictures Television that made the show economically viable not only for Season 5 but for seasons beyond. Now the casting director has scheduled open casting calls for talent in the metro Atlanta area to appear on the show as general background performers. Principal actor casting is also underway and is being done in Atlanta.

Marvel Studios and Arad Productions in association with Columbia Pictures are shooting the sequel to “The Amazing Spider Man” in upstate New York from April 30, 2013 through May 9, 2013. The extras casting director is seeking adult extras 18-80 years of age, as well as people who have vehicles that they would like to use in the film. These are fully paid positions and extras who appear in scenes with their vehicles receive additional compensation. Action sequences that include car chases and other special effects will be filmed in Rochester, NY during this period.

From the producers of the mega-hit ABC Family series “Pretty Little Liars” comes a brand new spin-off series titled “Ravenswood”. Alloy Entertainment and Warner Horizon Television will begin production this summer on the show, and casting directors in Los Angeles and New York are casting the first three main lead roles consisting of three teens. The roles include brother and sister twins, and another teen female. There will be two additional main lead roles cast as well as numerous co-starring and guest starring roles. The extras casting directors in Atlanta, GA are seeking local people who have floor-length gowns and tuxedos or very nice black suits to work on April 25, 2013. Female talent must also either have a 1970s style haircut or be able to style their hair in a 70s manner. For this formal event scene, the casting directors only want people who have not previously worked on the film.
